Joyful Inspiration is a charitable organization that provides help for the survivors of domestic abuse.
We put on a retreat for survivors of domestic violence every 4 months. These retreats provide a weekend of esteem building activities, educational presentations, self defense courses, an awesome lunch and a whole lot of fun to assist these ladies in moving ahead with their lives.
Although we provide this at no charge to the survivors, it comes in at cost to our organization of approximately $300.00 per attendee. Our response to these retreats has been wonderful and almost overwhelming. The good they do is easily measurable. Take the time to look at the testimonials and photos at our website (www.joyfulinspiration.org)
We are now seeking donations towards funding the retreat by means of sponsorship for individual survivors. It cost us approximately $300 per lady to put on the retreat. (Remember there is no charge to the survivors, volunteers are fed but uncompensated) We can serve around 20 survivors and 7-10 volunteers per retreat.
Reach into your heart and help sponsor one of these ladies. Full support of $300.00 will cover food lodging and activities for one survivor, but any amount will help.
We also welcome donations of gift cards to grocery stores or donations on the website to cover the cost of food and supplies. We also appreciate food, cakes cookies and supplies prior to the event weekends
They usually write a thank you to the donors with a testimonial of their experience and a little of their story. Several have started penpal relationships with sponsors.
We do follow-up with these ladies over the next several months and place them with a mentor. We realize we can’t heal years of hurt in a weekend, but we use it as a start to the journey of healing.
If you are a survivor, know one, or just know how tough it can be reach out donate and help these strong ladies on their path to healing and self sustainability.

Joyful Inspiration will be holding another event, “Day of Empowerment”, honoring women escaping domestic violence. We feed their body, soul and spirit, with each of them walking away with a renewed sense of hope.
The activities will include yoga, massage, delicious food, self-defense, meditation, and building visions. Tucked away from the world, our ladies could get away from their daily stresses and connect and breath.
As one said, “I got more out of that one day than I have six months of therapy.”.
The last few weeks have been very exciting around here! We had our 3rd Day of Empowerment retreat, and were so pleased at how many lives and hearts we touched. We had 23 women out that weekend and created some connections that will continue to grow. We saw ladies show up in the morning, closed off and suspicious. And ended the day with heart felt smiles and women allowing us to hug and love on them.. I know to some people in the community that doesn’t sound like much… However when a woman has been abused, sometimes her entire life, or for years in an abusive relationship, allowing people in their personal space is a real act of trust. And our staff and volunteers were able to let these ladies be comfortable and safe enough to let go. It was AMAZING!
This week we have been really focusing on the launch of our Family Game Day. The kick off event will be March 24th at the facility in Palestine. Our event will be free of charge, serving single moms in the east Texas area.
We have also been out in the community working on locking in our bi-monthly self defense class. We will be offering the self defense class free of charge to any woman in the area interested in committing the basic, effective get away tactics to memory! We are very passionate about self defense and doing the same thing over and over until it doesn’t take conscious thought but is committed to muscle memory. We had a testimonial from a prior retreat attendee about a situation she got in with a contractor in her home, due to our training she was able to handle it and get away safely.
We look forward to getting more plugged into the community and finding ways to serve woman of all ages, situations and dempgraphics. Women NEED women.. It is a scientific fact that women need the social interaction and connection that comes with building healthy relationships with other women. Especially women that have suffered abuse, tend to shy away from connection. This is because they have been taught to not trust anyone, and have been isolated to the point of social anxiety. The connections these ladies make will go far in the process of helping them heal.
We are excited to see what all is instore for the program over this next year! Keep an eye on us! You will see lives changed and women learning to love themselves!
Have a blessed day!
Through surveys of domestic abuse survivors we have recognized the service they are in need of at the highest rate is legal services. Many of our clients have been married 20 plus years and had absolutely no control of the finances. Most of which don’t even know where the household stands financially. Their abuser has kept them in the dark as well as told them they have no way to get any of the assets. They do not know the law, AT ALL. They have been isolated and sheltered from friends, family and the public. The husbands control and manipulate them and reiterate that they really have no rights. They are in such a state confusion and feeling lost when they leave they don’t even know where to start. Some of these ladies husbands have plenty of assets that an attorney could recover legal fees from. Then there are the ones that have no assets and no where to turn. Economically they have no resources and no family that can help, even if they wanted to.
I would LOVE to find compassionate law firms that could take 1-5 pro bono cases a year, with the agreement that they could try to recover legal fees from the abusive spouse, however they would not hold our clients liable for fees. My philosophy is a little from many places, takes the pressure and weight off of one place, and spreads good favor all around.
One of the most favored events at each retreat is the creativity session. The retreat was no exception.
The freedom of expression was so uplifting what a great group of women!
And Rhea Rose thank you so much for coming out and feeding these ladies creativity!!! You were amazing!
In our day-to-day pursuit to help these wonderful women we occasionally find that we also have needs. This time we have a big one.
We are seeing that some of our women, at their most vulnerable, are on occasion having difficulty locating transportation to our retreat events. So we are currently in the need of a passenger van so we can provide transportation to allow these women to enjoy the benefits these retreats can provide.
Cash donations are always the most helpful, any and every amount helps, or if you you have the ability to help in any way it will be greatly appreciated.
As our women rebuild their lives lets not let this roadblock hinder their ability to grow at our retreat events!

Joyful Inspiration held an opening event, “Day of Empowerment”, honoring women escaping domestic violence. We fed their body, soul and spirit, with each of them walking away with a renewed sense of hope.
The activities included yoga, massage, delicious food, self-defense, meditation, and building visions. Tucked away from the world, our ladies could get away from their daily stresses and connect and breath. As one said, “I got more out of that one day than I have six months of therapy.”.
Our vision for the first 2-3 years is to provide retreats for women who are victims of domestic violence. The goal is to teach these women how to find success and inner happiness. All services are provided by the community on a volunteer basis.
The organization will continue to support these survivors by having practitioners donate services once the retreat is over. Our goal is to be the safety net for these ladies when unexpected hardships happen. Things like car repair, help for doctor’s appointments, school supplies.
We would like to be able to help them with the things that can catch them and their budget by surprise. The first 6 months to a year after leaving an abusive relationship is the hardest for women to learn how to be self-sufficient and learn to budget and thrive.
Planned retreat activities include massage, self-defense, yoga and other educational classes. Vision board sessions are also planned during the retreat. Volunteers and practitioners will attend the activities along with the sponsored women.
Our long-term vision is to have a residential property to house the survivors along with therapy, spiritual enrichment, life skills training, and off-site education opportunities will be available so that the residents are better equipped to lead successful lives.
